About

I am Robin, from Tasmania, the small island at the bottom of Australia!  I am a pyrethrum agronomist with a keen interest in nutrition, natural farming systems, , photography and all things out doors.

In 2017 I was very privileged to be awarded a 2018 Australian Nuffield Scholarship.  My area of study is regeneration agriculture and how it can be incorporated into a high value cropping system to reduce synthetic inputs.

Regeneration agriculture is all about looking after the soil, the skin of the earth that supports life on this planet.  It is farming with a system approach and using practices that support the living system of soil.  These practices include

  1. reduced soil disturbance, no or minimal tillage
  2. soil covered at all times
  3. increased diversity of plants
  4. a living plant for 12 months of the year
  5. Integration of live stock in the system.

A big thankyou needs to go to my sponors for making my Nuffield Scholarship possible, Blundstone Tasmania, Tasmanian Alkaloids, The Robert Gatenby Memorial Trust and the Bruce Wall Trust and of course Nuffield Australia.  I am excited to be given the opportunity to travel the world meeting farmers out there who are brave enough to buck the trend of modern agriculture and farm with a systems approach, improving their soil and profitability all at once.

Join me in the journey of being a Nuffield Scholar and embark on 2018 the year of Adventure, Learning and Friendship.  It’s a big wide world out there and we all have lots of learn and experience.
